Sutton and East Surrey Water provide water to 650,000 people over 322 square miles from Morden & South Croydon in the north to Gatwick Airport in the south and from Cobham, Leatherhead & Dorking in the west to Edenbridge & Bough Beech in the east. Groundwater supplies provide 85% of the water, and 15% being extracted from Bough Beech reservoir. On average 35 million gallons per day are supplied using 9 treatment works, 36 service reservoirs or towers, 60 pumping stations and over 2,000 miles of mains. 280 people are employed locally by Sutton and East Surrey Water and the average domestic household supplied uses 154 gallons/day - about 30% more than the national average.
