Bournemouth and West Hants Water
supplies a population 426,300 spread over 646 square miles using 1,700
miles of of mains.
The 192,800 properties served use a total of 43 millions of gallons
per day
Bournemouth Water and West Hampshire Water (established 1863 & 1893
respectively) were two former statutory water companies established by
Act of Parliament
With the opportunities presented by privatisation of the former Water
Authorities in 1989 the two companies came under a joint majority
shareholding, through Biwater
the British Multi National Water Engineering Group.
The company serves a south coast area from Beaulieu river on the east
to Alderney on the west, and inland the New Forest westwards to
Wimbourne
